Equal Access to the Job Market?
Lige Adgang means “Equal Access” in Danish. The organisation works to create equal opportunities in education and employment - regardless of name, ethnicity, gender or appearance.
Challenge
Mohammed has to send 50% more applications than Martin to get invited to a job interview. For Samira, wearing a headscarf increases that gap to 60%.
The inequality is documented. But many of the barriers people face in the job market are invisible. Our challenge was to make those barriers visible and turn a complex issue around bias and discrimination into something people could understand in an instant.
Solution
We started with a simple thought. What if the job market was a running track? Everyone is heading towards the same finish line, but not everyone faces the same obstacles along the way.
That became the creative idea behind “Lige Adgang til jobmarkedet?” - “Equal Access to the Job Market?” We turned invisible barriers into physical hurdles, creating a simple visual metaphor for the unequal conditions people can face because of their name, ethnicity, gender or appearance.
The campaign launched on 21 March, the UN’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, asking a simple question: Do we really have equal access to the job market?
